Boy meets Girl...Then what?

Dating...an odd topic to be talking about on a blog...but it is something that almost every teenager wants to do or is doing. And lets be blunt it is a BIG probelm with teenagers today. They dont know what is right and what is wrong. This topic came up in Catholic League today at school. We were talking about what it that teenageers think about dating . For some people this could be an awkward topic to be having with two teachers in the room, however I think it went really well. My personal thinking about dating has changed alot over the years. Because of some of the ways I was acting I allowed myself to put into situations that I would never want to be put into every again. Becasue of this and my summer at Catholic Familyland, all of those convictions that I had about dating have changed. Over the summer we had this rule that we nicknamed C.O.D. it stands for Charity of Distance. Basically the girls and the guys had to keep distance from each other; for we were there this summer to be serving God and not to be starting some kind of romantic frenzy. That idea is something I think that we should all keep with us always. Think about it, shouldnt we always be focused on serving God? Yes, some us are called to do that in different ways such as marriage or religious life, but it is something we all should always be doing . Well anyway I think that C.O.D. is something that many people should practice. I know that that sound really weird but I truly believe that. You do not want to be getting involved with someone you dont know, dont like, or just could never even see yourself marrying; which by the way people is the reason why people date, to look for someone they think they could marry one day...not just to have "a good time with." There is such a thing as being friends with a Boy or a Girl (depends on who is reading this). The best way to learn things about people is to just spend time with them doing things you both like to do, maybe working on a job or something with them. I read someplace that the best way to get to know someone was to work with them because you see what they are like frustrated, tired, happy or just content. You can see so many sides to people just in that way. Now I am not saying that i am like anti- dating, not at all...I think it is great...but as along as it is chaste, for God and serving God. Now the ultimate question...how far is too far...now I always asked this also...so for all of you who dont know like I didnt here it is; at least this is my view and the Catholic view (I am pretty sure about this). Well basically here it is: a kiss is a kiss (not a suction-cup festivity) if it is a kiss that you would NEVER do in front of you parents you should not be doing it alone. Think of it this way...Mary and Jesus are our parents they are ALWAYS watching us...so why would we do something in front of them that we wouldnt do infront of our parents? Now of course this is all different if we are married but this is for those of us who arent. Yea so these are my views...accept them or not...yes I know some of them are extreme...but i came to these beliefs through the help of God and from learning alot from my own mistakes. Think of it this way...the apostles were called to be extreme in their time...well so are we. I hope that you all seriously think and pray about this. We want to be a better generation that any other before us...the only way to start is to do what is right!
Ephesians 5:22-33

22 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. 24 Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, 26 that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, 27 so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish. 28 In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.” 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

A soldier's Prayer

It was quiet that day, the guns and the Mortars, and land mines for some reason hadn't been heard. The young soldier knew it was Sunday, the holiest day of the week. As he was sitting there, he got out an old deck of cards and laid them out across his bunk.
Just then an army sergeant came in and said, "Why aren't you with the rest of the platoon?"
The soldier replied, "I thought I would stay behind and spend some time with the Lord."
The sergeant said, "Looks to me like you're going to play cards."
The soldier said, "No, sir. You see, since we are not allowed to have Bibles or other spiritual books in this country, I've decided to talk to the Lord by studying this deck of cards."
The sergeant asked in disbelief, "How will you do that?"
"You see the Ace, Sergeant? It reminds me that there is only one God.
The Two represents the two parts of the Bible, Old and New Testaments.
The Three represents the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost.
The Four stands for the Four Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
The Five is for the five virgins that were ten but only five of them were glorified.
The Six is for the six days it took God to create the Heavens and Earth.
The Seven is for the day God rested after making His Creation.
The Eight is for the family of Noah and his wife, their three sons and their wives - the eight people God spared from the flood that destroyed the earth.
The Nine is for the lepers that Jesus cleansed of leprosy. He cleansed ten, but nine never thanked Him.
The Ten represents the Ten Commandments that God handed down to Moses on tablets made of stone.
The Jack is a reminder of Satan, one of God's first angels, but he got kicked out of heaven for his sly and wicked ways and is now the joker of eternal hell.
The Queen stands for the Virgin Mary.
The King stands for Jesus, for he is the King of all kings.
When I count the dots on all the cards, I come up with 365 total, one for every day of the year.
There are a total of 52 cards in a deck; each is a week - 52 weeks in a year.
The four suits represent the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter.
Each suit has thirteen cards - there are exactly thirteen weeks in a quarter.
So when I want to talk to God and thank Him, I just pull out this old deck of cards and they remind me of all that I have to be thankful for."
The sergeant just stood there. After a minute, with tears in his eyes and pain in his heart, he said, "Soldier, can I borrow that deck of cards?"
Please let this be a reminder and take time to pray for all of our soldiers who are being sent away, putting their lives on the line fighting for us.

Prayer for the Military
Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need.
I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
Amen.

When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our servicemen and women all around the world. Of all the gifts you could give a Soldier, prayer is the very best one.

Veteran's Day!

This is the day that we remember all who have fought in the wars to keep us safe. We thank them and we give them much praise. Many of us may be very upset on this day for they may have lost their husband, son, and father. At this time we much look towards God. We must always praise him! Here is a man named Job (old testement) who lost everthing that he had owned and still praised God.

Job 1: 6-22
6Now there was a day when the sons (the angels) of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan (the adversary and accuser) also came among them. 7And the Lord said to Satan, From where did you come? Then Satan answered the Lord, From going to and fro on the earth and from walking up and down on it. 8And the Lord said to Satan, Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who [reverently] fears God and abstains from and shuns evil [because it is wrong]? 9Then Satan answered the Lord, Does Job [reverently] fear God for nothing? 10Have You not put a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have conferred prosperity and happiness upon him in the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has, and he will curse You to Your face. 12And the Lord said to Satan (the adversary and the accuser), Behold, all that he has is in your power, only upon the man himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord. 13And there was a day when [Job's] sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house [on his birthday], 14And there came a messenger to Job and said, The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15And the Sabeans swooped down upon them and took away [the animals]. Indeed, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you. 16While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, The fire of God (lightning) has fallen from the heavens and has burned up the sheep and the servants and consumed them, and I alone have escaped to tell you. 17While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, The Chaldeans divided into three bands and made a raid upon the camels and have taken them away, yes, and have slain the servants with the edge of the sword, and I alone have escaped to tell you. 18While he was yet speaking, there came also another and said, Your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house, 19And behold, there came a great [whirlwind] from the desert, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young people and they are dead, and I alone have escaped to tell you. 20Then Job arose and rent his robe and shaved his head and fell down upon the ground and worshiped 21And said,
Naked (without possessions) came I [into this world] from my mother's womb,
and naked (without possessions) shall I depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
blessed (praised and magnified in worship) be the name of the Lord!
22In all this Job sinned not nor charged God foolishly.

If you suddenly lost all your money, possesions, and family, what would your first response: Ander at God? Anger at Satan? Loss of faith? or a Peaceful acceptance?

May God Bless America and always keep us safe and those safe who fight for our freedom, our freedom to worship God always!

Bella!

Bella is one of the best catholic movies out there. Yes that may be my opinion but it truly is amazing and many GOOD catholics absolutely love it. It has subtle yet obviously noticeable pro-life message! (yay babies) I strongly urge anyone who has not yet seen this movie to go see it. It will make you think, which some of us may be afraid to do sometimes, but it will show us what one concerned friend can do and is willing to do, to save not only one life but ultimately 3.
